Christian McCaffrey fortifies Heisman bid with huge game

Christian McCaffrey, Stanford’s big time playmaker, was at it again on Saturday with a vintage performance against the Cal Golden Bears.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane — oh no, ’tis Christian McCaffrey.

This guy is absolutely insane, and just when you think it couldn’t get any crazier…

And if you scrub to around 0:25, you might see a middle-aged woman say, “You f***ing kidding me…”

Nope. He’s not.

McCaffrey’s been doing this all season, and in this game specifically, we’re talking about leading your team in rushing, receiving, and averaging almost 50 yards per kick return. If there’s a guy in the country right now who has a really sound Heisman bid right now as not only the most impressive but the most dynamic player in the country, it’s McCaffrey.

I mean, has anyone really been that much better this year?

I mean…

Seriously?

When you watch a guy like this play, you can’t help but think he’s going to score literally every time he touches the ball. He had one catch in Stanford’s victory over Cal, and it was the one you just watched above. He rushed for nearly 200 yards. Three touchdowns later, and McCaffrey has the attention of everyone in the country.

1,546 rushing yards. 416 receiving yards. 845 total return yards. 11 total touchdowns.

Let’s get out the calculator…

2,807 total yards, 11 touchdowns. Electrifying playmaker, son of an NFL great, and a player who is taking college football by storm this season. There’s no way you could convince me that McCaffrey shouldn’t at least have an invitation to New York for the Heisman ceremony, but he should also receive a hefty number of first place votes. His performance against Cal was a signature night where he showed us everything he could do, including perhaps some of his most exciting plays of the season.

And not only is Christian McCaffrey sprinting his way to a possible Heisman bid, he’s running into the heart of NFL scouts. By the way — he’s just a sophomore.
