College Game Preview: #10 Baylor vs #6 Oklahoma State
If there’s anything to expect when Baylor and Oklahoma State take the field it should be points, lots and lots of points. These two teams together are averaging 98.4 points per game, Baylor has the edge at 54.8 but regardless these teams are used to putting points on the board. The Bears feed off both the run and the pass behind QB Jarrett Stidham and arguably the best WR in college football in Corey Coleman.
That’s not to ignore Mason Rudolph who is having an outstanding season this year throwing the football, the Cowboys starting QB has over 3000 yards passing as well as an 18:8 touchdown to interception ratio. Neither of these teams play great defense, both are allowing about 400 total yards on defense and over 24 points per game so there’s no question that this game has all the makings of a barn burner.
Let’s take a look at some of the players we can expect to see.

Key Players
Shock Linwood RB, Baylor
The Baylor offense is never short of playmakers and while the Quarterback and Wide Receivers gain the most attention there’s something to be said about the guys who tote the rock and turn it into 6. Linwood is the guy for the job this year and he’s enjoying a great season with 1149 yards on the ground to go along with 9 touchdowns. He doesn’t add much value in the receiving game but any amount of open space for this guy could mean 6. In Baylor’s only loss, Linwood was held to less than 5 yards per carry and no scores, the Cowboys are going to have work to replicate that same kind of day.
Kevin Peterson CB, Oklahoma State
Kevin Peterson is enjoying a strong senior season and more than likely it’ll be his task to keep eyes on Corey Coleman who is having an explosive season of over 1200 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns. Peterson had an impressive game last season against 2015 top 10 pick Kevin White from West Virginia as he held him to only 3 catches for 27 yards. Coleman is a much more agile receiver than White but was held to a minimal 3 catch 51 yard performance last week vs Oklahoma. You can bet Peterson and the Oklahoma DB’s will be taking a piece of that film with them.

James Washington WR, Oklahoma State
When you mention the explosiveness of Corey Coleman many don’t know the explosive capabilities of James Washington who is averaging 20 yards per catch right now. Washington at 6’1 200 pounds has had a two game stretch of 9 catches, 384 yards and five touchdowns before being brought back down to earth last week vs Iowa State. If this game is going to end up as a shootout expect Washington to be heavily involved.
Prediction
This game is a tough one to call because either team could explode or even both. If this game gets to being a true shootout I trust the playmakers on Baylor more than I do the ones for Oklahoma State. If the game stays under 50 total points I’d take Oklahoma State but I just don’t see that happening. Baylor Wins 48-34
