AP Poll: Florida and Oklahoma move to Top 10

With only a few more weeks left of college football (I know, it hurts) the latest AP Poll is out and there have been some major shifts. While the top three in Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama have remained we watched Baylor tumble six spots after losing to now number seven Oklahoma. The Bears were without quarterback Seth Russell again and his replacement Stidham struggled as he threw two interceptions and an even less “Baylor looking” stat total of 257 yards in the air. While Baylor only lost by 10 points the freshman had his hands full in his first shootout game as a Bear.

Speaking of a shootout, Iowa had one of those against Minnesota while on their way to a 10-0 start, the first in school history. One can argue the Hawkeyes strength of schedule but it’s hard to argue the results and the fact that they play a complete game through the air and on the ground. Quarterback C.J. Beathard has been solid for the Hawkeyes, they may skate through the rest of this season. If they want to win the Big 10 championship and make their case to be in the College Football Playoffs, they’re going to need every ounce of Beathard.

Michigan State had a scare when Conner Cook left the game against Maryland at halftime. It’s curious to see how serious the injury is but from the sounds of it he would’ve remained if needed. The Spartans moved up five spots to be the now number nine ranked team in the AP Poll. A matchup against second ranked Ohio State is up next week and will more than likely be the deciding factor on the Spartans post season agenda.
