Lastly, it’s a good time to do it. The 2016 draft class appears to be quite strong on the defensive side. According to CBS Sports, 50 prospects are expected to go in the top 100 i.e. the first three rounds. That is rather impressive considering how slanted the rules are towards offense these days. Not only is there quality at the top, but several positions are considered quite deep.
So why not load up while the opportunity presents itself?

Now based on history there is almost no chance the Chicago Bears will actually use all nine of their draft picks on the defensive side of the ball. Too many opportunities to grab quality talent for offense and special teams may arise. Still, there are plenty of reason present to consider doing it.
After all, if winning is the endgame then the faster they improve this defense, the better their chances of a quick turnaround.
