AP Top 25: Poll Sees Little Change After Quiet Week

facebooktwitterreddit

If you came to view this weeks AP Top 25 rankings and were hoping for some sort of radical change then you came on the wrong week. None of the top seven teams changed their positioning and only a few teams moved no more than one or two spots north and south. Ohio State remains the uncontested number one overall team as they had a bye this week but prepare themselves for Minnesota next week and then a highlight matchup against Michigan State in three weeks. Baylor remained at number two, but Clemson received just as many first place votes (six) as the Bears after their shootout win against NC State.

LSU and TCU round out the top five while Notre Dame and Stanford are the only teams in the top 10 to make any moves. The Cardinal (now ranked ninth) switch spots with the Fighting Irish (now ranked eighth) after a close scare against a sneaky good Washington State team. A field goal that was made under two minutes helped seal the deal for the Cardinal and helped them from being tonight’s headline on the newest AP poll.

Memphis continues their march forward as they defeated Tulane 41-13 behind another solid performance from Paxton Lynch. The Tigers have two more ranked opponents left on their schedule as they still have to face Houston and Temple in the next month. Wins against both teams could get the CFB committee interested in the rising AAC school.
