Cody Kessler (USC)

Jonah:  Kellen Moore – Honestly, I don’t think Cody Kessler is a draftable prospect as of right now. His arm strength is marginal at best and his ball placement is all over the place. Best case scenario, he is a Kellen Moore caliber backup.

Me:  Kirk Cousins –  Another quarterback who manages a game very well and can really cut up a defense when he’s protected and in rhythm.  Yet Kessler, like Cousins, relies too much on the abilities of his receivers.  He doesn’t have that special trait of attacking down the field.  Very smart and poised, but limited physically.

Brandon Doughty (Western Kentucky)

Sayre:  Andy Dalton – I would say Doughty compares to Dalton for me in that he can push the ball downfield as well as spread it around in the intermediate. He’s got a good arm — capable of making every throw — but he’s not Aaron Rodgers by any means. I think the thing I see the most is a guy who is capable of leading an NFL team to wins someday, which Dalton is doing now with the Bengals.

Me:  Andy Dalton – Don’t let the comparison scare you.  Andy Dalton is a two-time Pro Bowl player who is well on his way to a third.  He may have a curse on him when it comes to playoff success, but he clearly knows how to run an offense, throws with good accuracy and timing.  Doughty is a bit bigger with a slightly stronger arm but their styles are similar.
