Gunner Kiel (Cincinnati)
Joe: Jameis Winston – I don’t think there are too many people you can compare here. Perhaps a touch of Jameis Winston? I haven’t seen much of his tape this season, so I’ll have to study more. But, that arm … shew.
Me: Jake Locker – Good arm? Check. Size? Check. Mobility? Check that too. Questionable poise and a bad knack for getting hurt? Yeah, Kiel may suffer from that problem as well, the same as Locker did for years in Tennessee before he finally called it quits.
Trevone Boykin (TCU)
Sayre: Robert Griffin III – For Boykin, I see the ‘good’ RG3 and a player that is capable of making magic with his legs as well as with his arm. We see Boykin coming from a very favorable offense to his skill set like RG3 played in at Baylor where he won a Heisman trophy, and Boykin might be in line to do the same. I’ll be interested to see what kind of time an NFL team gives him to develop, because the skills are very translatable.
Me: Russell Wilson – Come on. Anybody who watches the tape can see it. The similar size, excellent mobility, playmaking knack and same jersey number? Trevone Boykin looks so much like the Seahawks’ star quarterback. The one key difference is arm strength. Wilson has a bit more.
Next: Kessler and Doughty
