Trade Back

Dec 5, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Oregon Ducks defensive end DeForest Buckner (44) celebrates after a sack in the second quarter against the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 Championship at Levi

One cannot project a mock draft without considering a fan favorite possibility of their team trading back for more picks. So in the spirit of that realistic idea, this write paid the $6 in order to fulfill that projection. It was an interesting challenge but here is how it played out.

Traded #8 pick to Eagles for #15 pick, 3rd round pick, and 5th round pick

player. 57.
With this deal, the Bears are able to secure two extra picks, bringing their total to 11 and still manage to grab arguably the best 3-4 defensive end in the entire 2016 class. Though DeForest Buckner is playing on a struggling team at Oregon, he personally continues to play good football.

Big, long and powerful he’s a real nightmare when teams try to run at him as he’s able to anchor or knife through blocks and make tackles for a loss. Although the scheme doesn’t use him that way, he’s also a considerable pass rusher the few times he’s been asked to.
. DE. Oregon. DeForest Buckner. 1

Traded 8th pick of 2nd round for Redskins’ #17th pick of 2nd round, 4th round pick and 5th round pick

player. 57. The real surprise came in the second round when Washington offered up two more picks for a chance to move up. It was accepted. Even so, some good fortune remains as the Bears still managed to grab Shilique Calhoun to help bolster their outside pass rush. Despite losing position in the first two rounds, the defensive front looks much more formidable.. DE. Michigan State. Shilique Calhoun. 2

Josh Doctson. 3. player. 57.
This is where the trading could pay off. This pick is the one scooped up from Philadelphia. With it the Bears are able to get one of the hottest receivers in college football. Josh Doctson won’t win a ton of races but he’s a bonafide playmaker with outstanding body control, visions and hands.

He wins with size, great leaping ability and working harder than everybody else. Even though the Bears appear set at wide receiver, they should understand the lesson from the rival Packers that there is no such thing as too many targets to throw to.
. WR. TCU

3. player. 57. Another of the athletic, long corner types. William Jackson III doesn’t lack for physical talent. He can do pretty much anything required of a pro cornerback from man coverage to solid run defense. Concerns with him lay in coachable circles: eye discipline, hand and foot use and route recognition. Not too great of a risk for a good coaching staff.. CB. Houston. William Jackson III
