How cool would it be if the Bears found their quarterback solution right in their own backyard? A great story indeed but there is much to like about Illinois quarterback Wes Lunt. Like others on the list, he has the size scouts look for and an arm that can get the ball out fast and with plenty of velocity. Some will jump on his bland passing numbers this season but that is a product of playing with no-name receivers who tend to drop lots of his passes.
His own offensive coordinator believes based on his dimensions, capability and leadership that he resembles Tom Brady. That may be slightly overdoing it but at least puts a ceiling to what he can do. He’ll have to prove he can handle himself against better competition and learn to deal with pressure in his face, something most quarterbacks struggle with.
