Baylor WR Corey Coleman Breaks Insane Record, On Pace for NCAA History

facebooktwitterreddit

You’d have to watch every game Baylor WR Corey Coleman has played this year to understand the magnitude of what the 2016 NFL Draft prospect is doing this season. Not only is he breaking records, but he’s on pace to set NCAA college football history. In other words, this guy is incredible.

On Saturday against West Virginia in just the second quarter, Coleman caught his 15th touchdown of the season.

It’s only October 17th…

The 15 touchdowns breaks a Baylor touchdown record, something that almost broke college football Twitter when it set in just how impressively this feat was accomplished.

Six games. 15 touchdowns. That is something we like to call — impressive.

UPDATE: 2:20 p.m. ET — He just caught another one. That’s 16, folks.

And while today’s record broken was a feat to be marveled at, we wouldn’t be doing Coleman’s season justice if we didn’t look ahead to the NCAA history that this guy could break.

Barring injury, Coleman is more than on pace to break the NCAA college football all-time touchdowns in a season record (27), set by Troy Edwards in 1998 at Louisiana Tech. (h/t to sports-reference.com for this tidbit)

In short — if you’re a college football fan and this doesn’t get you absolutely stoked, you may want to check your pulse.

Also, this kid is NFL Draft eligible. And our friend Josh Norris over at NBC ranks Coleman as his #1 overall receiver prospect in 2016.

Eyes opened.

Certainly, the same thing likely holds true for NFL teams across the country. So, while we’re rooting for Coleman to break records and put his name in the college football history books, the really storyline comes within his upcoming leap into the NFL, assuming he indeed declares.
