NFL Draft: TCU’s Josh Doctson the best WR in college football

How easy is TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson making it look out there right now?

This is a game-winning touchdown catch.

"Here’s the game winner from Boykin to Doctson! #GoFrogs http://t.co/8XRzTxy7jZ— TCU Football (@TCUFootball) October 11, 2015"

Keeping it chill at the end of the game, but earlier in the game, he made this play —

"Josh Doctson doing Josh Doctson things… #BeatKSU http://t.co/Ks4O6T1YOZ— TCU Football (@TCUFootball) October 11, 2015"

I mean, my word.

His teammate, TCU running back Aaron Green, is on to something here…

When I wrote about Doctson in the pre-season, I said he looks kind of like A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals. I’d say that’s still true today, perhaps even more so. Dating back to last season, Doctson has been making ridiculous plays on the football and now looks just really comfortable doing it.

Prior to the season, Doctson looked like he could be a top five receiver in college football, and now I’m not sure he’s not the best one of them all.

So far in the 2015 season, Doctson has caught 50 passes for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns. His career high is 65 receptions, and he’s already one away from tying a career high of 11 touchdowns.

I’m pretty certain he’s going to top that mark.

It’s not just the big plays Doctson is making that has me thinking he might be the best receiver in college football. It’s also the routine plays that he makes look easy. There’s no doubt in my mind if I’m an NFL talent evaluator that this kid is going to be among the top players on my 2016 NFL Draft board, much less just at the receiver position. He’s shown the ability to make huge plays consistently over the last two years, and with 35 catches with 7 touchdowns over just his last three games, it’s clear that Doctson is just heating up.
