The top one-on-one matchup of the week is one that is receiving very little attention. The Mountain West Conference isn’t loaded with NFL Draft prospects, but the battle on the outside between Colorado State wide receiver Rashard Higgins and Boise State cornerback Donte Deayon is one scouts have had circled for a while.

Higgins has caught a touchdown pass in each of his four games this season. He also has gained over 100 yards in 11 of his last 12 games. After missing the Minnesota game, which would have seen him lining across from Eric Murray and Briean Boddy-Calhoun, this will be his toughest matchup.
Donte Deayon isn’t as well-known as some of Boise State’s previous prospects, but he’s one of the best. His next interception will be the 18th of his career, which would tie Eric Weddle for most in conference history. He’s off to a great start in 2015, picking off four passes in five games. Despite his success in the Mountain West, Deayon is currently a late-round prospect. However an interception against a receiver like Higgins would certainly boost his stock.
Higgins has about a five-inch height advantage, so Deayon’s ability to contain him will go a long way in determining whether or not he can play on the outside at the next level.
