UCLA Linebacker Myles Jack Declares For NFL Draft
In a move that is drawing mixed reaction, UCLA stud-linebacker Myles Jack has declared for the NFL draft. Jack suffered what is believed to be a torn ACL early in UCLA’s season. Projected early to be a first round pick, Jack will now withdraw from school at UCLA and continue his lengthy rehab full-time.
UCLA Head Coach Jim Mora discussed Jack’s decision to withdraw from UCLA and declare early for the draft.
"He’s taking his chips and shoving them into the middle, and we hope he draws a good hand."
Last year, Jack finished with 88 tackles, eight TFL and seven pass deflections. He also had three rushing touchdowns as a running back last year. This year decided to focus exclusively on playing defense. Prior to his injury this season, Jack had 15 tackles, an interception, and a pass deflection. The juniors’s move is certainly unprecedented, but in some ways makes sense. Instead of attending classes, he can focus exclusively on rehab and preparing for the combine.
While he was ultimately expected to declare for the draft at some point, many found it strange for a player his age to declare halfway through the college football season.
As stated before, Jack was expected to declare and was projected to be a mid-first round pick in this springs draft. Scouts like his size at 6’1, 230 pounds and they think he is best suited to play as a 3-4 inside linebacker.
