NFL Comparison
– Brandon Mebane, Seattle Seahawks
* Just like Brandon Mebane, Kenny Clark is a natural run stuffer on the defensive line that wins with play strength over functional strength. Both play with excellent leverage and effort, but neither will necessary make big time plays in pass rush situations. Mebane uses his hands better than Clark, but with the effort level and drive, he can easily learn this facet of the game with hard work. Again, he can play all across the defensive line like Mebane and will anchor a defense in run support by taking on double teams on a consistent basis. Combine that with his intriguing athletic ability, and we may have a very special player on our hands.
Round Projection
– Early Day 2
* Although he doesn’t necessarily have the statistics to back it up, Kenny Clark’s skills as a run stuffer at UCLA will translate to the next level seamlessly. His versatility and ability to play in any scheme will certainly catch the eye of front offices, but his inability to consistently get off blocks and be a danger in passing situations caps his upside. Nonetheless, his sneaky athleticism and ability to anchor a defensive line will push him into late first round consideration.
