Cameron Sutton (CB – Tennessee) vs. Oklahoma
Last season, Bowling Green averaged just under 260 passing yards per game. In the season opener, Tennessee gave up 433 yards through the air to the Falcons. It could get even worse for the Tennessee secondary this week as they take on an Oklahoma offense that gained 439 yards passing last week.
Despite having a very good RB in Samaje Perine, Oklahoma has switched to an Air Raid offense this season. With Baker Mayfield at QB, the Sooners had no trouble beating Akron. While Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs and the rest of the offense proved they are capable of lighting up the scoreboard as well, it will be up to the Tennessee secondary to keep this game close.
Cameron Sutton is by far the best player in the secondary and he’s going to have to be a playmaker on Saturday. Whether it’s creating a turnover or shutting down his side of the field, Sutton needs to make an impact. Tennessee can’t rely on the offense to match Oklahoma score-for-score so the defense has to step up and slow down the passing game to keep the Volunteers, and the Neyland Stadium crowd, in the game.
