They just missed the postseason last year but ended with a flourish by beating the rival Chargers. Now the Kansas City Chiefs have high expectations in 2015. Maybe the NFL team predictions fall in their favor.
Offensive MVP: Alex Smith
Really? With Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin, and Travis Kelce on the same field? That’s right. Mark this down as the best year Alex Smith is going to have as a professional quarterback. It’s typically around that age (31) where talent, experience and intelligence all meet for a pro player. Smith has everything going for him in addition to talent around him.
The defense should get him plenty of extra opportunities and it will be the third year in the offense under Andy Reid. That is usually the time for maturaition in a quarterback. Chiefs fans got a glimpse of it in the preseason dress rehearsal. Expect that to carry over into his second Pro Bowl campaign, finally erasing the last pockets of people claiming he’s a draft bust.
