Fantasy Football Power Rankings: Quarterbacks
With the preseason games coming to an end, fantasy football is gaining its usual steam. These rankings can obviously change based on injuries, job competitions or other various, unseen reasons, but I’ll explain my quarterback rankings at the bottom.
The number to the left is their current ranking, while the number to the right is their previous ranking from last month.

Rodgers Falling, Luck Rising
The Jordy Nelson injury is the biggest factor behind this flip/flop of Luck and Rodgers. Obviously, it’s Aaron Rodgers. He makes everyone look good. From a fantasy prospective though, I want someone with all his big targets available. Neither one is a bad pick, but if I had the option, Luck is first off my quarterback board.
The Fall of Cam Newton

There wasn’t a significant chance in my big board, but the biggest drop was Cam Newton. Loosing your number one option Kelvin Benjamin for the year and his identical football twin Devin Funchess still questionable was like a wrecking ball into Newton’s fantasy season. We saw the effects last night as their replacements dropped open catches, resulting in a Panthers loss. When it comes to fantasy, you can’t afford to lose first downs and touchdowns.
The Garoppolo Effect
If Tom Brady is available against the Steelers, Garoppolo isn’t in my top 25, maybe not even 30. While he should only be starting in very deep fantasy leagues, his production over the first month of the year could be something to watch if your starter suffers a minor injury. If your playing in a keeper league, he might be a quiet pickup late.
Tannehill Breaks the Top Ten
Ryan Tannehill has his contract, has his receivers, and statistically gets better every year. With one of the deepest receiving corp in the league, Tannehill won’t run out of options with the Dolphins this year. Everyone says his deep ball has improved and his accuracy is as good as ever. In my leagues, I hold off on taking my quarterback and wait for Tannehill late. Stack up talent around him and let him work his magic.
Sam I Am
Bradford’s season all depends on health. With your final draft pick, he might be a sneaky option that could carry your team down the stretch. He showed last week he could take a hit and deliver the ball to his young receivers. Everyone forgets he’s a top overall pick with great accuracy and arm strength. Your 16th round pick is your risk pick, so take it on a potential top ten fantasy quarterback.
