A host of big names are filling up the NFL injury report as well as the suspension block, leaving their teams in major predicaments as to how to replacement them. Most don’t have the choice but to hope younger players behind them on the depth chart can step up. Here are some names to watch carefully as the regular season approaches.
Green Bay Packers: Davante Adams
Jordy Nelson is one of the best receivers in pro football. His numbers alone reflect that. No team can just replace him. Still, expectations were high for second-year receiver Davante Adams even before the injury. He came on strong late last season and looked like their obvious #3 option. Now with Nelson gone he’s suddenly getting promoted to #2 behind Randall Cobbs.
The kid has athleticism and speed. What he’ll need to show in order to earn the trust of Aaron Rodgers is firm understanding of his routes and reliable hands when making the catch.
