It’s not easy playing with the burden of knowing you’re supposed to be the #1 cornerback. That means lining up against the best receiver the opponent has to offer. Chicago hopes Kyle Fuller can fill that role, but so far his preseason has not gone according to plan. After a mediocre debut last week, it got worse against the Colts.
Star wide out T.Y. Hilton beat him cleanly on a 45-yard pass from Andrew Luck in the 2nd quarter and Fuller compounded that mistake by being flagged for a 15-yard taunting penalty. That setup a Colts go-ahead touchdown three plays later.
This continues a trend for Fuller dating back to last season of him having big problems covering top receivers as Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson can attest.
