There is plenty to look forward to in the NFL preseason 2015, even Week 1 as teams shake out the rust of a long training camp.  With the Miami Dolphins set to visit the Chicago Bears, what are some things for fans to watch for in this “meaningless” affair?

Dolphins Storylines

The Ndamukong Suh Effect

Miami broke the bank in free agency this year to sign defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.  The reason is obvious enough.  They want and expect him to turn their good defense into a great one.  His two-way ability of run defense and interior pass rush stand among the best in the league, not to mention his fiery attitude and passion to win.  Pairing him with Cameron Wake and Olivier Vernon could make for something special, and this game will be the first dry run.

Ryan Tannehill Maturation

Improving the defense was one thing, but everybody knows the Dolphins will only go as far as quarterback Ryan Tannehill can take them.  He had a career year in 2014 with over 4,000 yards passing and 27 touchdowns.  Still, it isn’t about the stats anymore for Tannehill.  The number that matters most for him is wins.  No matter what his final production may say, it will come down to whether he finds ways to get his team the W.  How he starts off games will be telling of that.

Bears Storylines

Jay Cutler and Adam Gase

Most Chicago fans have pretty much reached their final straw with quarterback Jay Cutler.  Despite loads of talent he continues to underachieve and is developing a reputation for getting his coaches fired.  The latest to take up the trecherous quest of reigniting the form that made him a Pro Bowler falls to Adam Gase, fresh off his superb two seasons in Denver.

Known for his creativity and play calling prowess, there is no doubt Cutler is his greatest challenge.  How they mesh is the single biggest factor in knowing whether the 2015 Bears have any prayer of competing in that tough NFC North.

Vic Fangio Sorcery

Chicago fans can abide by many things, but bad defense from the Bears is not one of them.  So it’s not a surprise that things changed from top to bottom after the unit finished 30th in the league two-straight seasons.  It’s for that reason the team hired Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator.

A veteran of the league since 1986, Fangio is known for his aggressive and inventive scheming and always finding ways to make the most of the players he has.  Every defense he’s coached has improved significantly upon his arrival.  Hopes are high that won’t change in Chicago.
