Toledo RB Kareem Hunt: Early Scouting Report
While players in the MAC don’t usually generate much draft hype, Kareem Hunt is a different story. The 5’11 running back out of Toledo is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season in which he ran for over 1,600 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He was able to do all of this, despite missing three consecutive games with a high ankle sprain. Very rarely have I seen a kid from one of these smaller conferences show the quickness and power combination Hunt brings to the table.
Watch this first play against Arkansas State in 2014.
Looks at that change of direction and vision to turn nothing into something. Want to see him do it again? Of course you do!
Wow. His balance, speed and vision all came together in one incredible play.
What else is it about this kid that makes him so great. For one, he fight tooth and nail for every yards he can get. As you saw in those clips, he uses his vision to find the gaps between the guards and breaks through with blazing speed.
He finished this game with FIVE TOUCHDOWNS.
Here are the rest of my notes on Hunt, both positive and negative.
Positive
Amazing change of direction due to good feet and balance
Strong lower body to power through the line

The competition level is a bit of a concern. The first MAC player selected in 2015 was Quinten Rollins at the end of the second round. After that, only three other players from the MAC were selected, all in either the sixth or seventh round. While Hunt has the skill sets between his vision and feet, can he power through SEC or NFL lineman like he does at Toledo? Can he still run for over a 100 a game like he did last season? Only time will tell. In a year with names such as Elliott, Drake and Henry, Kareem Hunt is for sure a name you’ll want to know.
