6. LSU

To be honest, I’m not really sure what to think about LSU. We all figured that 2014 would be a rebuilding year, but their 2015 outlook doesn’t appear to be much brighter. Their problems stem from the top at the quarterback position. Neither Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris was able to run away with the starting gig. So here we are again. Who will step up and win the job?

Quarterback isn’t the only issue in Baton Rouge, either. LSU will have to replace their best run blocker in La’el Collins. Outside

of Travin Dural, LSU really doesn’t have any playmakers at the receiver position. In fairness, we didn’t get to see what the rest of the receiver could do due to poor quarterback play, but the same guys will be throwing them the same balls this season.

On a positive note, Leonard Fournette is the guy this season. The fantastic Freshman split reps with a few other players last season and still managed to break the 1,000 yard mark. If LSU is going to have any success offensively this season, it will be because of their rushing attack.

On defense, LSU will enter a new era. John Chavis bolted for Texas A&M in the offseason, leaving LSU with a key hire to make. Les Miles opted for a 3-4 guy in Kevin Steele. Steele’s top priority this season will be to generate a pass rush. Surprisingly, LSU is lacking talent at the edge position. Steele will need Tashawn Bowen or Lewis Neal to step up immediately.

LSU’s backhalf looks good on paper, as always. Senior Jalen Mills and Junior Tre’Darious White will lead a talented group into 2015. Jamal Adam came on strong last season and will fill the strong safety position. Look for Freshman Kevin Tolliver II to make an impact early.

LSU could see its season end before it really even begins in 2015. They open with McNeese State, then travel to Starkville to face Mississippi State week two. Following that, they return home to face an Auburn team that took them apart in 2014.
