Benardrick McKinney was maybe my favorite linebacker going into this draft. I had him graded as a mid first round pick, but due to a mediocre combine his stock slipped. Watch the film, it’s a blast to watch. He is a pure form tackler, and a true thumper. Has prototypical size and speed, and having played quarterback in high school he has a good knowledge of the offense that should translate into at least above average coverage skills. Great value again, and knowing the injury history of the Texan’s linebacking corps this is also a big need.
Grade A
. Inside Linebacker. Mississippi State. 10. How is it possible that through three picks in three rounds the Houston Texans have managed to draft three different first round picks? Is that even legal? Yet another FANTASTIC pickup. Yes, I know Strong upset some teams recently by not going to the medical recheck. But that does not change what type of talent he has, let alone his size. All these other teams have done now is light an even bigger fire in this young man. He is even going to be wearing the number 11 to represent the other ten receivers taken before him. He has the height, the frame, the build, the speed, and most of all the hands. Easily one of the best picks in the entire draft. Definitely worth the price to trade up for.
Grade A+
. Wide Receiver. Arizona State. Jaelen Strong. 70. player
