NFL Draft Trade Rumor: Bears Interested In Marcus Mariota?

We’re now merely minutes away from the 2015 NFL Draft, and the biggest chip to fall appears to be the final destination of Oregon Heisman winner Marcus Mariota. Will he be a member of the Chicago Bears? According to reports, that’s a legitimate option.

The problem is, the Titans don’t want Cutler…

Well there you have it. Moving up for Cutler would be tough, even for the Bears who are picking 7th overall. The Titans don’t want Jay Cutler and some team is going to have to want him in order to facilitate a trade for the Bears. Chicago also only has six picks in this year’s draft.

They need to use future picks if they’re going to move up and get Marcus Mariota.

Of course, the Eagles are lurking close behind, and for good reason. Don’t think this is simply the case of teams jumping up to get a quarterback out of panic for fear of need. Marcus Mariota is, in my estimation, the best player in this year’s draft. He’s got the size, the arm, the speed — he’s basically Russell Wilson if Wilson had the requisite height coming out of Wisconsin.

Whatever team gets Mariota is going to be getting a great player, and therefore, the Titans want a nice haul in a trade if they’re not going to be the ones to pick him.

And at this point, that appears to be the case.

If the Titans can’t get what they want in a trade, they can take Mariota themselves and either bargain again later in the first round or they can develop him themselves.

Win-win.
