It’s Tebow Time in Philadelphia…

According to Fox Sports Jay Glazer, the Philadelphia Eagles have continued their quarterback frenzy of an offseason and signed former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The deal will reunite Tebow with his former Jets teammate Mark Sanchez. Tebow had reportedly worked out for the Eagles earlier this offseason, but left the facility without a deal in place. The team wanted to trade back-up quarterback Matt Barkley before signing Tebow, but that has not yet been completed.

Tebow is known as one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all-time at the University of Florida, taking the Gators to two BCS Championship victories in 2007 and 2009. He earned two All-American honors to go with multiple All-SEC Honors at Florida.

Tim Tebow was taken in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos with the 25th overall pick. The Broncos traded back up into the first round by acquiring the 25th pick from the Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos sent a second, third and fourth round pick to the Ravens in this deal.

Tebow has only played in 35 NFL games, starting just 17 of those. His lone career highlight was an AFC Wild Card game overtime win against the Steelers, in which he led the game winning drive.

The deal is expected to put Tebow’s career as a college football analyst for the SEC Network and ESPN to a halt.

This moves is part of a whirlwind Philadelphia Eagles offseason, which includes trading their top runningback and their starting quarterback, only to sign the league’s top rusher and signing multiple injury prone players. They currently have Sam Bradford, who was acquired in the Nick Foles trade, Mark Sanchez, who resigned with the team to a two-year deal after a season as the backup, and former draft pick Matt Barkley, whom has spent most of his time on the practice squad.

Chip Kelly is known for bringing multiple quarterbacks in to mini-camp and preseasons. Last season the Eagles brought six quarterbacks to camp, coming out with Foles, Sanchez and Barkley.

Tebow has also played for the New York Jets after being traded from Denver in 2012, as well as the New England Patriots as a participant in training camp. He has not played in an NFL game since 2012.
