The 49ers address their need at cornerback by selecting Western Kentucky’s Cam Thomas. Thomas has very good size for his position. Thomas has the physicality that the 49ers look for in their defense. Thomas will at least give the 49ers depth on the outside, which is something they desperately need.. CB. Western Kentucky. Cam Thomas. 132. player. 42

player. 42. With questions surrounding Vernon Davis’s future in San Francisco and the lack of production from Vance McDonald, the 49ers decide to take a tight end in the draft. Jesse James is very athletic for a tight end and he has great size, providing his quarterback with a large target to throw at. James needs to work on his blocking, but he has the tools to develop into a solid receiving threat for the Niners moving forward.. Tight End. Penn State. Jesse James. 151

42. The 49ers have Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith, but with Boldin getting long in the tooth, the 49ers decide to draft his eventual replacement in Kenny Bell. Bell has a good combination of size and speed. Bell can play in the slot his first year or two in the league, before transitioning back to the outside after Boldin hangs up the cleats.. WR. Nebraska. Kenny Bell. 189. player

The 49ers decide to add depth to their offensive line by selecting, Penn State product, Miles Dieffenbach in the seventh round.. Guard. Penn State. Miles Dieffenbach. 246. player. 42

Baylor. Bryce Hager. 254. player. 42. Just like they did with Dieffenbach, the 49ers add another depth player with Hager in the seventh round. Hager has a good motor and he could see sometimes as a special teams player early in his career and he’ll be a serviceable backup to Bowman and Perryman.. ILB
