Eagles Swap LeSean McCoy  for Kiko Alonso

This was the move that sent shock waves through the NFL. LeSean McCoy is the Eagles franchise rushing record holder and won the NFL rushing title in 2013, with over 1,600+ yards rushing.

McCoy has been the Eagles featured back since his sophomore season in 2010. The biggest issues with McCoy moving forward was his high volume of touches, his lack of efficiency last season, and his cap hit.

McCoy ranked as the 16th most efficient back in the league last season, according to Football Outsiders. Along with that, McCoy had a cap charge of over $10 million.

Kiko Alonso was the rookie of the year in 2013, but, unfortunately, he tore his ACL prior to the 2014 season, causing him to miss the whole year.

Alonso played for Chip Kelly at Oregon, proved to be a very productive player in the NFL and, along with that, Alonso fills a position of need for the Eagles.

With McCoy’s career set to take a turn for the worst and Alonso’s career just beginning, plus proving he can be a top linebacker in the NFL, the Eagles did very well in this deal.
