Round Three

Now, let’s not jump to the conclusion that Minnesota is going to give up on last year’s 5th-rounder David Yankey just yet, but it’s no secret that the team must bring in competition to make the training camp battle a great one. Tomlinson will fall due to his inability to latch on to defensive linemen, but he’d be a very good value selection in the middle of the third round. Showing flashes of dominance at Duke, Tomlinson projects to compete in the NFL with a chance to grab a starting job in 2015. If the Vikings want to ensure they’ll have the best possible scenario at LG in 2015, this a move worth making.. OG. Duke. Laken Tomlinson. 3. player. 60

Round Four

player. 60. Here, Minnesota grabs a “boom or bust” prospect who could develop into a very bright NFL star. With just one year experience, Rollins is about as raw as you can get. Ultimately, his baseline skills show on tape that his upside can’t and won’t be denied by NFL teams. Will he fall to the fourth round? It’s certainly possible. We’ve seen surprises bigger than this one, especially in players that have a low floor. With that floor however, Rollins’ potential is turning heads with every game tape watched.. CB. Miami (OH). Quinten Rollins. 4

Round Five

DE. Kentucky. Za'Darius Smith. 5. player. 60. Here, the Vikings benefit from picking at the top of the 5th via the Matt Cassel trade. Smith is big gamer that shows the aggression necessary to be a solid option on a legitimate front-seven. The Vikings have to improve up front on defense — adding Smith could provide them with another body to rotate in, with upside to turn into a starter in the league.
