In this edition of our Minnesota Vikings mock draft, we explore other potential NFL Draft options now that the team has made a trade that will bring former Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace to town.

Despite many predictions (including some of ours) that have the team taking a receiver in Round One, things may change just a bit after Rick Spielman pulled off a bit of wheeling and dealing to start the new league year.

After trades and before compensatory picks are announced, the Vikings have seven picks. They’ll own one in Rounds 1-5, and two in Round 7.

With today’s trade, they gave up a 5th round selection but picked up a 7th rounder from the Dolphins.

Round One

60. I had to think for a good while about this one, as I’m sure the Vikings brass will. If Kevin White or Amari Cooper end up falling to 11, I think it’ll be a no-brainer, even with the Wallace addition. Ultimately, the Vikings must continue to give Teddy Bridgewater help on offense — the best thing a team can do for a young QB is allowing him to be paired with a very effective ground game. It’s understandable that the Adrian Peterson situation is still TBD. However, drafting Gurley lets Minnesota focus on the future with a guy that can make an impact immediately, projecting to be a future star. With many needs that are better addressed in later rounds, here’s a pick that should be considered heavily.. RB. Georgia. Todd Gurley. 1. player

Round Two

Benardrick McKinney. 2. player. 60. It’s not hard to understand that the Vikings have to put some work into shoring up their defensive unit, especially in the middle at the linebacker spot. After losing Jasper Brinkley to the Cowboys, the Minnesota brass has to go into full attack mode when it comes to landing a prospect who can fix the middle immediately. McKinney won’t fall too much further than the middle of the second round, so this would not only fill a major need, but provide great value.. LB. Mississippi State
