Changes are coming fast and furious under new Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan. Nowhere has that become clearer than the defensive line. Having already added Ricky Jean-Francois and Stephen Paea to start the off-season, he added the biggest piece yet (literally) when 28-year old defensive tackle Terrance Knighton signed a one-year, $4 million deal.

"“Pot Roast” as he was affectionately called by teammates became a serious force against the run for the Denver Broncos the past two years. As a unit with him in the middle they never ranked lower than 8th in the NFL in that category. He also was a deceptive issue for blockers as a pass rusher, posting five sacks including a big one in the playoffs against New England during the 2013 season. His familiarity with Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, who was defensive coordinator in Denver made the move easy to see, not to mention the loads of cash Oakland has at their disposal."
Grade: B
Ndamukong Suh was of course the big fish for every team out there. Still, if the Washington Redskins were going to get a proven presence in the middle who can force offenses to double team him and pass more often, Terrance Knighton was the guy to get. He should open up far more opportunities to sack quarterbacks for Ryan Kerrigan and the edge rushers.
