The Eagles and the Rams shocked the NFL moments before the league year officially opened, when reports of swapping quarterbacks Nick Foles and Sam Bradford emerged.

Here is the tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and other members of the media:

As far as draft picks go, things get tricky. After originally having rumors that first round picks would be swapped, we now see that “undisclosed picks” will be compensated.

This trade is massive. Bradford was the former first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and he proceeded to win rookie of the year. Though his career started off strong, Bradford’s tenure in St. Louis was derailed by two ACL injuries in back-to-back years, causing him to miss the better part of two seasons for the Rams.

Nick Foles was the Eagles third overall pick in 2012 and had an MVP candidate season in 2013, but regressed a bit 2014, finishing with an injury.

Both quarterbacks have showed glimmers of star power, but consistency is their biggest weakness.

Grade (QBs Only):

Rams- C+

Eagles- B+

This is pretty cut and dry. Both teams made what appears to be an upgrade on the surface, but question marks still surround both. Foles and Bradford both come with their question marks — however, both are accompanied with upside that can’t be denied.

Time will tell with this one — after all, this deal might not be over. If the Eagles want Marcus Mariota on April 30th, Bradford might not be done switching teams this offseason.

What a day!
