Arguably the top receiving option in free agency is off the board, with Cobb re-signing with the Green Bay Packers late Saturday night.

Here is the tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter regarding the matter:

Here is some background information on the Green Bay wide receiver via NFL Mocks:

"Cobb was widely considered the best receiver prospect in this class. It’s hard to ignore the skills that he brings to the table, especially when you turn on the tape during his time in Green Bay. Proving his dominance with a Pro Bowl nomination last year, it’s safe to say Cobb has a bit left in the tank at simply 24-years old. ~ Joe Wedra"

Cobb is a very young and talented receiver, who has developed into a very reliable receiver in Green Bay. It had been rumored the Cobb was seeking a deal in the $11 million per year range, but the Packers have snagged the 24 year old receiver for only $10 million. Cobb is one of Rodgers’ top receiving targets and he will continue to grow in Green Bay and he will remain a key cog in Green Bay’s offense for years to come.

Grade: A

This is a very good deal for both parties. For the Packers, they got their top free agent at a million dollars per year less than what had been reported. That is great business for the Packers GM, Ted Thompson.

As for Cobb, he got plenty of money per year, $10 million to be exact and the term works in his favor. If he can sustain his level of play throughout the remainder of his contract, he can position himself to land another large deal or extension at the conclusion of this one.

Overall, this is a win-win for both sides.
