Pro Day Preview for March 5th: Clemson, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah State

Pro Days are officially under way and tomorrow some big name schools will be having their workouts throughout the day on Thursday. Here are some players you should look out for as Pro Day reports roll in during the day:

Vic Beasley, OLB, Clemson: Vic Beasley was able to show off his dynamic athleticism at the combine in February. He measured in at 6’3″ 246 pounds and excelled in the drills. He ran a blazing 4.53 forty yard dash and put up 35 reps on the bench press, so I would imagine he’ll stand on those numbers. He’ll go through field drills, but nothing during his Pro Day should prevent him from being a top-15 pick in the draft.

More from NFL Mocks

Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson: Vic Beasley wasn’t the only Clemson player to have a nice combine. At 6’1″ 304 pounds, Grady Jarrett ran a 5.06 40 yard dash with a very nice 1.69 10 yard split. Jarrett shows nice disrupting ability on tape, as evidenced by his 10 tackles for loss during his senior year. Jarrett should stand on his combine numbers and go through positional drills. He’s a solid Day 2 draft choice.

Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson: Another Clemson Tiger to have a good combine was Stephone Anthony. He’s a big linebacker at 6’3″ 243 pounds, making his 40 yard dash time of 4.56 seconds even more impressive. Anthony is a homing missile on tape and shows off his athleticism in a variety of ways on the field. If he continues to impress during his Pro Day, he could wind up sneaking into the end of the first round.

Corey Crawford, DE, Clemson: Corey Crawford is an interesting prospect. He didn’t blow up the combine, but he’s got freaky measurements. Crawford boasts an absolutely insane 7’1″ wingspan which should intrigue teams during the draft weekend.

Cody Prewitt, S, Mississippi: Coming into the 2014 season, Cody Prewitt was considered to be one of the top safety prospects in the nation. Unfortunately he had a miserable senior season and is now a consensus late round prospect. He’ll need a good Pro Day to keep his draft stock afloat.

Senquez Golson, CB, Mississippi: Golson is a small corner, but he plays bigger than his listed size. Golson played outside corner for Ole Miss and showed nice coverage ability. He ran a good 40 time of 4.46 at the combine, but he may choose to run again to show scouts he offers great speed to make up for his size.

Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska: Gregory is one the marquee prospects in this draft class, but his Pro Day is actually very important for him. He’ll be looking to show scouts and NFL personnel that he has gained weight from the NFL combine, where he was only 235 pounds. There were some rumblings that Gregory played the season at 218 pounds which is startling. He needs to prove he can put on good, healthy weight that will bode well for his NFL career.

Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska: Abdullah has been one of the most dominant backs in the country over the course of his college career. He’s short, but packs a lot of muscle on to this frame which should help him withstand the punishment he’ll take at the next level. Abdullah ran a 4.62 40 yard dash at the combine, so he’ll probably try to improve upon that at his Pro Day.

Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska: Kenny Bell is best known for his devastating block  on a Wisconsin defender, but he’s been a capable receiver for the Cornhuskers in his own right. He ran a 4.42 at the combine and produced some big plays for Nebraska last season. He could be sleeper receiver prospect at the next level.

SaQwan Edwards, CB, New Mexico: Honestly, I don’t know much about Edwards but he’s got intriguing size (6’1″ 189 lbs) for a corner. If he runs well and looks fluid in the drills he might have a chance to sneak into the seventh round of the draft.

B.J. Larsen, DE, Utah State: Larsen is defensive prospect that might be flying underneath the radar a little bit. He’s got good measurables (6’5″ 275 lbs) and he was productive his senior season with nine sacks. If he runs well, his size and production should be enough to get him seventh round consideration.
