S Rahim Moore Free Agency Fits: Raiders, Bears, Eagles

facebooktwitterreddit

In a weak year for the NFL Draft and NFL free agency in terms of the market at the safety position, a young and talented player like Denver Broncos safety Rahim Moore is set to cash in.

Moore was average this past year by Pro Football Focus standards, rating in the middle of the pack in terms of overall grade for safeties. However, he set a career-high with four interceptions this past year, and picked off a fifth in the Broncos’ postseason loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

In fact, Moore picked off Andrew Luck a total of three times last season, come to think of it…

At any rate, Moore is going to have a nice market for his services, and I have identified a handful of teams that should show interest once the free agent negotiating period opens up here in just over a week.

More from NFL Mocks

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have a need at the safety position, on defense in general, and adding Moore would be a smart move because Oakland just hired Jack Del Rio to be their head coach. Del Rio has been Moore’s defensive coordinator the past two years with the Broncos, and the players loved playing for him.

That could be a really solid fit, especially after Oakland just let go of Tyvon Branch.

Chicago Bears

Like the Raiders, the Bears have a coaching connection with Moore in former Denver Broncos head coach John Fox. Moore was part of Fox’s first draft class with the Broncos, and is obviously a player they were really high on.

With his familiarity with John Fox and the Bears’ desperate need for secondary help — specifically at safety — Moore could be a really good fit with the Bears if the price is right.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have needs all over the secondary, but safety might be their top need overall. Getting a player like Moore who can pick off passes on the back end would be a really solid move for this team. They have made so many attempts at signing and drafting players for the safety position, one is bound to wind up a good pickup right?

Indianapolis Colts

I will throw the Colts in the mix as well. They released LaRon Landry and Mike Adams is an impending free agent. Adams is a former teammate of Moore from their days in Denver, and perhaps they can both sign up and play for the Colts next season.

Like I mentioned before, Moore picked off Andrew Luck a total of three times last season. That would be an interesting sub-plot to his free agent courting.
