Vertical Jump

"“The vertical jump is all about lower-body explosion and power. The athlete stands flat-footed and they measure his reach. It is important to accurately measure the reach, because the differential between the reach and the flag the athlete touches is his vertical jump measurement.”"

Mariota:  36”

Winston:  28.5”

This further lends into the speed category.  Mariota is not only fast but he’s explosive in his lower body.  What this means is he can not only run but he likely doesn’t have much issue with acceleration.  In other words, he can go from zero to 60 in just the first few steps.  Winston?  That just isn’t his game.  From the very start he was labeled as more of a pocket passer — this drill further proves just that.
