Baylor has become a powerhouse in college, but its players have begun to receive unfortunate tags of not being ready for the pro level. Does the same hold true for Antwan Goodley in the 2015 NFL draft?
STRENGTHS
Built like a running back. Clearly not afraid of contact. Lends to some versatility where he has enough speed to line up wide but then take a handoff in the backfield. Unafraid of going across the middle.
Shows good hands when catching the ball, which lends to his value as a possible return man.
Doesn’t have burner speed but he has enough to catch defenders napping when he takes it over the top
Shows an awareness of where he is on the field, which makes him a really good target on money downs to move the sticks.
WEAKNESSES
Not a consistent hands catcher. Sometimes lets it get to his body which leads to trouble securing it.
Little shake and bake to his game. Straight-ahead running style that can be good for some plays but the lack of wiggle limits bigger opportunities.
Lacks decisive motion in his routes. This can lend to his inability to create separation from defenders who play him in press.
Draft Stock:
His deep speed and running back build are going to be two things teams hone in on. He played receiver at Baylor but don’t be surprised if a few teams see him as a better fit in the backfield. His receiver background would make him a threat on screens and swing passes. On the other hand, if he stays where he is then Antwan Goodley has the look of a slot receiver. Expect him to go sometime on Day 3 between the 4th and 6th round.
