Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Best Pick – Gerald McCoy, DT, 3rd Overall in 2010

Gerald McCoy has met and exceeded expectations since arriving in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers were looking for a dominating interior presence to replicate what Warren Sapp had done for them in earlier years. Gerald McCoy has played lights out, establishing himself as one of the best defensive lineman in the NFL.

McCoy has made three consecutive All-Pro teams and has racked up 18 sacks in the past two seasons. He was recently rewarded with a seven year, 98 million dollar contract extension, the largest for a defensive tackle in NFL history.

Other selections considered:

Davin Joseph, OG, 23rd Overall in 2006

Aqib Talib, CB, 20th Overall in 2008

Lavonte David, LB, 58th Overall in 2012

Worst Pick – Josh Freeman, QB, 17th Overall in 2009

Josh Freeman was drafted to be “the guy” in Tampa Bay, but was never able to live up to the lofty expectations that came with being a high draft pick. He only had one good season, under the tutelage of offensive coordinator Greg Olson, in which he posted a 25:6 touchdown to interception ratio.

After Olson eventually moved on to Jacksonville, Freeman struggled immensely and was eventually cut by the Buccaneers.

Freeman had an unsuccessful stint with the Minnesota Vikings and was a member with the New York Giants for a month before they cut him.

Other selections considered:

Michael Clayton, WR, 15th Overall in 2004

Gaines Adams, DE, 4th Overall in 2007

Adrian Clayborn, DE, 20th Overall in 2011

Da’Quan Bowers, DE, 51st Overall in 2011

Mark Barron, S, 7th Overall in 2012
