Best Pick – Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, 60th Overall in 2006

The fact that the Jaguars best pick has been largely ineffective over the past three seasons, including a forgetful campaign with the Raiders last season, shows how poor the Jaguars have been at drafting the past decade.

Maurice Jones-Drew had a nice three year run with the Jaguars from 2009-11. He led the league in rushing in 20011 with 1,646 yards, but his workload started to take a toll on him. He’s suffered through numerous injuries since then and hasn’t looked the same.

Other selections considered:

Daryl Smith, LB, 39th Overall in 2004

Eugene Monroe, OT, 8th Overall in 2009

Worst Pick – Blaine Gabbert, QB, 10th Overall in 2011

The Jaguars have been absolutely horrific at drafting over the past decade. When you wonder why teams like the Jaguars, Raiders, Browns, etc. fail every year, its because they don’t draft well. Blaine Gabbert was one of the worst first round picks in recent memory.

He was hyped up by the media in his last season at Missouri and Jaguars ate up that hype and then some. Gabbert never looked the part of an NFL quarterback and the Jaguars gave up on him after two seasons. Anytime you whiff on a quarterback that high, it sets the franchise back a few years. Hopefully Blake Bortles can improve in the near future or else the Jaguars will be in the market for a new quarterback, again.

Other selections considered:

Reggie Williams, WR, 9th Overall in 2004

Matt Jones, WR, 21st Overall in 2005

Derrick Harvey, DE, 8th Overall in 2008

Tyson Alualu, DT, 10th Overall in 2010

Luke Joeckel, OT, 2nd Overall in 2013
