Brandon Bridge: 2015 NFL Scouting Report

The University of South Alabama’s quarterback Brandon Bridge is an intriguing prospect in this year’s upcoming draft. At 6’5 235 lbs Bridge’s combination of size and athleticism has scouts enamored with his long term potential. Bridge totaled 17 touchdowns, 6 interceptions and 1,648 passing yards his first season as a starter in 2014.

Below is a scouting report of Bridge’s strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths

What stands out most when you watch Brandon Bridge is his athletic ability at the quarterback position. His tall frame allows him to see the entire field and use his legs when the play breaks down. His mobility is key when the pocket breaks down and has to use his speed to make a play.

Bridge possesses elite arm strength and can drive the ball down the field with ease. His quick release and arm strength has scouts salivating at the his potential. Bridge fully believes in his arm strength and is not afraid to make the tough throws on the field. He looks confident in the pocket, stands tall and drives the ball down field.

This play here was one of the best plays I saw from him on film. He shows his athleticism, toughness, mobility, and arm talent all in one play. A team really could be getting a bargain if they select him towards the end of the draft. Philadelphia could really benefit taking a late-round flier on Bridge — Chip Kelly’s offense is tailor-made for him and his skill set.

Weaknesses

Bridge is raw, he misses open receivers and can tend to stare down receivers. His mechanics need to be worked on in order to really excel in the NFL. It would benefit him mightily to lose some steam on his fastball, he needs to develop some touch on his passes because receivers seem to have a hard time handling his throws.  He’s not really experienced so he will need to develop for a few years but if developed well, he could really be an effective quarterback in the NFL.

If Bridge makes this throw he potentially has a touchdown but he misses the open receiver.

Draft Stock

Brandon Bridge’s draft stock varies at this point in the process. As of now he is a mid-to-late round draft pick. With proper work and development he could be a bargain at his draft position.
