They are the only team with two 1st round picks, so the Cleveland Browns have to make sure they get this draft right. Here are their full mock picks.
1st Round: Kevin White – WR – West Virginia
Fits the profile of a pro receiver at 6’3″ but adds to it with explosive speed and acceleration to beat defenses deep. A good place to start in the post Josh Gordon era for Cleveland.
1st Round (f/BUF): Carl Davis – DT – Iowa
Fast-rising defensive tackle who shined at the Senior Bowl. Carl Davis looks like an ideal 3-4 nose tackle. He has good length at 6’5″ and a massive 320+ lbs frame with the power and quickness to go with it.
2nd Round: Brett Hundley – QB – UCLA
It may prove too late based on their position but if the Browns manage to land Brett Hundley in the 2nd, it would be a huge victory. While there are questions about his ability to read defenses, he’s much more polished and physically gifted than Johnny Manziel.
3rd Round: Hauoli Kikaha – OLB – Washington
His lack of elite athleticism and length will push him down boards, but Hauoli Kikaha has demonstrated consistently throughout college that he sacks quarterbacks. There is nothing wrong with taking that kind of player in the 3rd round.
4th Round: Ramik Wilson – ILB – Georgia
Well-built for the inside linebacker position. A good athlete who tracks ball carriers and can securely wrap up on tackles while also able to deliver a good pop on occasion. Needs to get stronger though in order to shed blockers better.
4th Round (f/BUF): Austin Shepherd – OT – Alabama
A classic Crimson Tide lineman: big, strong, and light on his feet with long arms. At his best going downhill in the run game but has the athleticism to function in pass protection. Is a tad overweight and needs to learn to control his leverage.
5th Round: Shaquille Mason – C/OG – Georgia Tech
Leverage is something guard Shaquille Mason uses better than most. At 6’1″ he is rather stocky for an offensive lineman but he retains the necessary power and combines that with excellent athleticism and instincts to wall off pass rushers from his quarterback.
6th Round: Antwan Goodley – WR – Baylor
Lot of things to clean up from a technique standpoint, but Antwan Goodley has good acceleration and that rare vision to make tacklers miss once he has the ball in his hands.
6th Round (f/BAL): Blake Sims – QB – Alabama
Stop for a second and put on tape of Blake Sims. Watch the way he plays the game. Do it enough and one is bound to reach the same conclusion: he looks remarkably similar to Russell Wilson. The big difference is Wilson was far more experienced coming out of college, but Sims possesses many of the same traits. A good gamble pick for the Cleveland Browns.
7th Round: Cam Thomas – CB – Western Kentucky
Long corner with lots of toughness to his game and is competitive in press coverage. The problem here is simple: he’s raw and has a bad knack for being a gambler. His discipline has to improve if he’s ever to reach his potential.
