player. 45. The first of two projected fourth round compensatory picks nets the Broncos a 6-3 safety with great ball skills who needs some development, but could turn into a really nice player down the road. Initially, he can earn his stripes as a special teams player, but this is a high upside pick.. S. Syracuse. Durrell Eskridge. 4a

QB. Baylor. Bryce Petty. 4b. player. 45. The Broncos don’t have a pressing need for a quarterback but with 10 draft picks, they can afford to use a compensatory pick on a guy like Petty who has a great collegiate resume. Petty is one of a few quarterbacks in this draft that I think would be great developmental fits for Gary Kubiak’s system.

Stefon Diggs. 5a. player. 45. Stefon Diggs is a speedy receiver with great quickness that could not only give the Broncos an added dimension offensively but could also be a return specialist. WR is not a top need, but shoring up the special teams is. The Broncos received this pick from the Bears in a draft day trade in 2014.. WR. Maryland

45. Williams is a wide body on the defensive front who needs a lot of coaching up but has plenty of potential. Denver could lose Terrance Knighton this offseason, so adding some insurance depth isn’t a bad idea.. DT. Northern Iowa. Xavier Williams. 5b. player

Portland State. Kyle Loomis. 6a. player. 45. After making Britton Colquitt one of the highest paid punters in the league, the Broncos might need to think about moving on, saving themselves some cash, and letting a rookie handle punting duties. Loomis is the top ranked punter in the draft by some outlets, and transferred from Oregon State after joining the Army. He was an All-American punter this past season.. P

45. Versatile tight end/fullback that could give the Broncos some toughness and versatility offensively. They are looking at losing a few players at tight end in free agency, so drafting multiple is not out of the question.. TE/FB. Louisville. Gerald Christian. 6b. player

10. Seventh Round: Brandon Wegher, RB, Morningside College

45. A personal favorite, I think Wegher is going to climb up draft boards this offseason but I’m not sure how far. That said, I’d love for the Broncos to take a look at him. They don’t have a pressing need at RB by any means, but this is a kid who is a phenomenal talent that has had a troubled past. He might be more likely to get a UDFA deal with some team, but the Broncos should have their eyes on him.. RB. Morningside (NAIA). Brandon Wegher. 7. player
