2015 NFL Mock Draft: Steelers Trade Lands Big Help
By Erik Lambert
#5 – Washington Redskins – Randy Gregory – DE – Nebraska
There are a number of ways to go here but with an edge rusher of the caliber of Randy Gregory still sitting out there, the Washington Redskins have to take him. He fills a need and his near limitless potential is something they can’t afford not to explore.
#6 – New York Giants (f/NYJ) – Shane Ray – DE – Missouri
Trade: #9 pick and 2nd in ’15 for Jets #6 pick
Pass rush is where the New York Giants have succeeded or failed for years. It hasn’t been there often enough the past few seasons. So they make a minor jump up the board to grab Shane Ray out of Missouri who is a proven rusher but also highly versatile.
#7 – Chicago Bears – Jameis Winston – QB – Florida State
A new GM creates for uncertainty and anybody who has followed the Chicago Bears knows that quarterback was listed repeatedly as a position to watch carefully. Taking Jameis Winston, with his enormous boom and bust factor, could shake up the football world.
#8 – Atlanta Falcons – Vic Beasley – DE – Clemson
Like the Giants, the Atlanta Falcons are a much more manageable opponent to beat when they can’t rush the passer. Until that is fixed they won’t be a factor in the NFC South. Grabbing Vic Beasley to put on the edge is a venture towards fixing that problem.
