2015 NFL Draft: Supply And Demand Hint At Early Bidding War
By Erik Lambert
Figuring out the structure and overview of the 2015 NFL draft remains ongoing what with so many players still undecided on whether they will turn pro or return to school for another year. However, the pecking order is beginning to clear for many teams as is how strong a number of the position groups is expected to be. None will draw more attention than the quarterback spot and the 2015 scenario could be one of the most active in recent memory.
Why? Simple economics.
As the college football season finished the stretch run, most scouts and experts tend to agree that the 2015 quarterback class will likely feature two quarterbacks worthy of a 1st round pick in Marcus Mariota of Oregon and Jameis Winston of Florida State. Here’s the thing though. As many as six teams are expected to seek a quarterback early in the draft.
That isn’t even counting Chicago, New Orleans and Philadelphia who have quarterback issues of their own to consider. The point is with two top quarterbacks and six possible contenders for them, it makes for a high demand/low supply situation. That often leads to teams jockeying for position in order to get the best one rather than settle for one they don’t regard highly.
That means fans could be treated to a bidding war when the clock starts running in Chicago for the 2015 NFL draft.
