2015 NFL Draft: Sleeper Teams That Could Go Quarterback Early

Most of the main players have been identified for targeting a quarterback in the 2015 NFL draft.  So who could surprise by jumping into that ring?

Chicago Bears

Jay Cutler, Marc Trestman and the entire structure of the Chicago Bears organization is in danger of being scrapped in 2015 after a disappointing season.  GM Phil Emery may have handed Cutler a fat, new contract but that may not deter him from seeking a possible escape route via the draft.  At 5-7 the Bears are on pace to have their first top 10 pick in a decade and could compel Emery, who will be under fire for his job, to put all the pressure he can on Cutler by drafting a possible replacement.

New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees is approaching his late 30s.  There is only so much longer he can carry the New Orleans Saints on his right arm alone.  So it’s no surprise word leaked recently the team may be in the market for a long-term option.  They’ve put it off for years, what with Brees’ excellent streak of good health but concerns are beginning to arise about the future Hall of Famers’ arm strength.  Don’t be surprised if the Saints pull the trigger should the right situation come up.

Arizona Cardinals

Yes, they handed Carson Palmer an extension but that was before he tore his ACL.  The Arizona Cardinals are getting a good long look at their quarterback situation without a difference-maker at the position.  Drew Stanton is fine as a limited backup but he’s not good enough to get this team where it wants to go.  Bruce Arians needs to consider investing in a true future starter who can eventually replace the soon-to-be 35-year old Palmer.

Oakland Raiders

Derek Carr has talent and seems to have a bright future with the Oakland Raiders.  That being said, this team is on track to hold the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.  Such a perk doesn’t come around often.  All it takes is the right people to fall in love with somebody like Marcus Mariota and entire situation changes.  They could then flip Carr for draft picks and move on with a player many experts may consider better.  Not likely but most definitely possible.
