Jim Mora Gives Hint on Brett Hundley’s NFL Draft Status
By Joe Wedra
It appears that UCLA QB Brett Hundley will indeed turn pro and enter the 2015 NFL Draft this year. Coach Jim Mora noted on Monday’s edition of The Rich Eisen Show on Audience (channel 239 on DirecTV) that his quarterback will likey declare for the NFL Draft, helping a 2015 group of quarterbacks that are risky at-best.
Here’s the quote from Mora on Eisen’s show (h/t Mike Huguenin at NFL.com) …
"“I’m sure Brett will declare and go play at the next level,” Mora said Monday on “The Rich Eisen Show.” “I think he’s ready to do that. I mean, he’s done what he can do at UCLA. You know, he’s like all quarterbacks. You know, he’s an unfinished product right now, but that’s what everybody is going into the league, and I think he’s going to be a really fine NFL quarterback.”"
Despite some rumors that Hundley may want to stay – and other opinions saying he needs another year at UCLA – it appears the young quarterback is ready to take the big leap to the NFL.
If he does declare and make himself eligible to be drafted, the big question that remains all surrounds around his draft stock?
Is he a potential first-round pick? Some say he’s worthy of a top-10 selection, others place the 6’3″ junior as a Day Two selection that is best suited in a backup role.
It’s safe to say there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding Hundley as a prospect, something to consider as the official news eventually breaks.
There are plenty of QB-needy teams in the NFL, but will anybody be willing to take a chance with their first-rounder?
