2015 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders Get Trade Fury Started
By Erik Lambert
#5 – Oakland Raiders (f/NYJ) – Amari Cooper – WR – Alabama
Derek Carr has a bright future with the Oakland Raiders but they need to start arming him with better talent. After moving down they are still (somehow) able to land Amari Cooper, the best receiver in college football and a big play waiting to happen.
#6 – Washington Redskins – Landon Collins – SS – Alabama
The secondary has gone on long enough without a serious threat on the back end for the Washington Redskins. Landon Collins is a true two-way safety who can play the run but has the speed and instincts to affect where quarterbacks throw the ball.
#7 – Jacksonville Jaguars (f/NYG) – Brandon Scherff – OT – Iowa
Running the ball and protecting Blake Bortles is top priority for the Jacksonville Jaguars. For that they need more sturdy offensive lineman. Brandon Scherff is big, strong, nasty and technically-sound. He can play on either end of the line with success.
#8 – St. Louis Rams (f/CAR) – Connor Cook – QB – Michigan State
Trade: #12 pick, 3rd in ’15 and 5th in ’15 for Panthers #8 pick
Yes, Connor Cook may return to Michigan State but that decision hasn’t been made yet. He’s still available and if he’s there in April then the St. Louis Rams are smart to move up and grab him. He has the size, the arm, the leadership and the poise of a franchise quarterback.
