2015 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders Get Trade Fury Started
By Erik Lambert
With so many quarterback needy teams loading the top of this 2015 NFL mock draft, it’s not a matter of if but when will the big trades start flying?
#1 – New York Jets (f/OAK) – Marcus Mariota – QB – Oregon
Trade: #5 pick, 2nd in ’15, 1st in ’16 and 4th in ’16 for Raiders #1 pick
After witnessing the quarterback travesty on display Monday Night, the New York Jets have every reason to go get somebody who can actually play the position. Marcus Mariota has every tool in the cabinet and can become a star with the right coaching.
#2 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Randy Gregory – DE – Nebraska
Is Jameis Winston worth the #2 pick? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t think so. Instead they go with more of a sure thing, scooping up the ridiculously talented Randy Gregory to give their defense more pass rush bite.
#3 – New York Giants (f/JAX) – Leonard Williams – DE – USC
Trade: #7 pick, 3rd in ’15 and 2nd in ’16 for Jaguars #3 pick
Can anybody remember a time when the New York Giants defense was so toothless? This unit has lost its ability to pressure the quarterback, so they make an aggressive push to fix it by landing pocket wrecker Leonard Williams.
#4 – Tennessee Titans – Shane Ray – DE – Missouri
Another team that is a danger to go quarterback but Ken Whisenhunt may seek out a different avenue. Besides, he has Zach Mettenberger and badly needs a pass rusher on defense. Shane Ray is a perfect fit for the scheme they run.
