In Georgia running back Todd Gurley’s first game back from a four-game suspension, he looked great running along with Nick Chubb for the Bulldogs against Auburn on Saturday, but all did not end well for the future first round hopeful.

Gurley wound up being eventually taken off the field on a cart after injuring his knee in Georgia’s rout over Auburn, a scary sight for NFL scouts, talent evaluators, and most of all for the Georgia football program as they had just received arguably the best back in college football back from suspension in a huge game.

Down the stretch for Georgia, missing Gurley would seem to be detrimental if not for the way Nick Chubb has played, but it seems like they can sustain without him. Gurley, however, adds an element to this Georgia team and was great on Saturday pre-injury. He rushed for 138 yards on 29 carries with a touchdown, and had a kick return touchdown for a touchdown called back on a holding penalty.

Gurley looked explosive, he looked like himself, and best of all he didn’t look like the four games off really affected him all that much in terms of getting into a rhythm as a runner.

At this point, you can only hope that Gurley’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked on Saturday night. He looked like he was in a considerable amount of pain, but worst of all, he had to be carted off after being examined. That’s never a really good sign and if Gurley misses significant time, meaning missing offseason workouts and things like that before he’s drafted, his stock could see a pretty significant hit.

I really hope Gurley is OK, because college football is a lot better right now when he is out there on Saturdays.
