2015 NFL Draft: Top-10 Quarterback Prospects
By Joe Wedra
I’ll only publish one 2015 NFL Draft “Big Board” this year, but I want to start putting out some prospect lists that I currently have put together. This one will be listing the top-10 draft-eligible quarterback prospects as things stand right now. As always… until Draft day, these are subject to change.
10. Everett Golson, Notre Dame
I like what Golson’s done in his return to the Fighting Irish this season, particularly the way he’s run the offense. He’s quickly becoming extremely draft-eligible.
9. Garrett Grayson, Colorado State
Grayson is emerging as one of the biggest sleeper prospects in this class. Much like Jimmy Garoppolo in 2014, Grayson has the potential to climb up boards late in the scouting process.
8. Kevin Hogan, Stanford
This season has been a nightmare for Hogan. His decision-making has been brutal for much of the year and there’s not much trending upward in his game. He could fall even further than this if the season continues in a downward spiral.
7. Bryce Petty, Baylor
Here’s where things get fun. spots 4-7 are as close as you can get, so don’t look at this as a knock on Petty. He has the potential to be taken high, but I struggle liking the whole package here.
6. Brett Hundley, UCLA
Coming into the season I had Hundley ranked third on the board. However, he hasn’t quite improved on tape enough to solidify a solid spot in the top-five.
5. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State
Here’s a fast riser. It’s hard to not like what Prescott is doing, as by now nearly everyone in the country has their eyes locked in. He has NFL-ready traits and can jump to potential first-round status if all goes perfect to end his redshirt-Junior season.
4. Sean Mannion, Oregon State
I haven’t given up on Mannion just yet. I know it’s easy to knock him, but I still believe in his capability to run an NFL offense. Maybe not next season, but there’s a potentially bright future here.
3. Connor Cook, Michigan State
There is still jumpiness in his game, but Cook has shown me enough to earn a spot in the top-three. No, he isn’t perfect, but he’s clearly ready to take his game to the next level.
2. Jameis Winston, Florida State
You know about Winston. You know where he stands… Let’s just leave this explanation empty and see how the process turns out…
1. Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Mariota is the clear front-runner this season. He is the most NFL-ready of the group, and while there’s no superstar status here, Mariota has a chance to be very good in the NFL. Tampa Bay fans should be happy…
