Louisville WR DeVante Parker is Back, Looking Dominant
Oct 30, 2014; Louisville, KY, USA; Louisville Cardinals wide receiver DeVante Parker (9) runs the ball against Florida State Seminoles defensive back Lamarcus Brutus (42) during the second half at Papa John
In just two games back from injury, it’s clear that Louisville Cardinals receiver DeVante Parker is among the best players in the country at his position, and a guy that is going to be a really high NFL Draft pick. He wasted no time putting himself back on the map with a nine-catch, 132-yard performance against North Carolina State.
You can watch Parker’s dominance in that game below, and you’ll see a guy that looks NFL-ready. Despite just having come off injury, Parker is flashing speed, strength after the catch, strong hands, and an ability to create separation with relative ease.
In my eyes, Parker has re-established himself as a first round wide receiver. At 6’3″ 210 pounds, he has the size that you crave in an NFL wideout, and is the type of player that can come in and be a #1 guy while lining up wherever you need him to. Against Florida State, Parker had eight catches for 214 yards including this nice 71-yard play here.
What Parker has been able to do coming back from this injury is simply amazing. He actually appears to be in midseason form despite only playing two games, and is proving what many thought this time a year ago that he could help a pro team out right now. If Parker had come in with this rookie class of receivers, it would have only enhanced one of the best position groups we’ve ever seen, but he instead came back to school and will have a really good shot at being one of the top three receivers selected this coming draft.
